Why use audio or video:
- Use it when it's the only way to get your point across.
- Use audio and video to provide information where you need it.
- Use audio and video to enhance a web page with simple graphics.
Why not to use it:
- Don't confuse enhancing with annoying. Know your target
audience and how they will likely view the information.
- Audio and video takes up lots of disk space and is slow download. Web
users have limited attention spans!
- Many of the ways to view audio and video require special plug-ins or
helper applications, which your viewers may not have. If you use special
plug-ins or helpers, make sure you let your viewers know!
- If it doesn't add something to your page, it probably detracts
from it!
