Machine Setup

This web was created for a demonstration to be presented during Rice University's Web Week. In order for attendees to be able to judge performance, I have included the machine specifications and software I'm using for this demonstration.

• PowerMacintosh 7600, 80MB RAM, System 7.5.5
• Applications
• Quicktime 2.5 - Part of System 7.5.5.
• Quicktime MPEG Extension
• Quickdraw3D 1.5 - 3D file handling utility.
• Netscape Navigator 3.01 - Web browser, free to educational users.
• Adobe Premiere - An excellent video and audio editing tool.
• FusionRecorder - A video capture application distributed free with AV Macs.
• GIF Builder 0.5 - A freeware animated GIF builder.
• Alpha - An excellent shareware text editor for creating HTML files.
• Netscape Plug-ins and Helpers
• Quicktime Plug-in for Netscape - (The QTVR extension is part of version 1.1)
• RealPlayer 3.0 - Helper application for RealAudio and RealVideo.
• Whurlwind 1.0d7 - An Apple product for displaying Quickdraw3D (3D meta files).
• VivoActive Plug-in - For streaming video and audio.
• Macromedia's Shockwave Plug-in - A recent security alert keeps me from demoing this, but Shockwave (with its fixed version, when it is released) is a great way for including Director and Authorware creations in your web page.
• Netscape's Live3D - a VRML viewer for Netscape.
