Animated GIFs

How to create animated GIFs:

One freeware application you can use to create animated GIFs on the Macintosh is GifBuilder 0.5. There are, however, many other applications you can use to create these files on the Macintosh or other platforms.

Animated GIF files are created in GifBuilder by importing individual image files or movies and arranging them in the frames window. Individual GIFs, PICTs, TIFFs or Photoshop files can be imported as well as animated GIFs, Quicktime movies, PICS files or Adobe Premier film strip files. After you've imported the files, GifBuilder let's you manipulate many aspects of the final file by allowing to create transitions, re-position files, and edit many aspects of the individual files.

Give some thought as to why you are using animated GIFs and what you hope they will add to your web site. Animated GIFs can be created to loop any number of times. Take a look at the examples below. GIFs that repeat only once may seem boring, but if your users will be spending much time on your web pages, a repetitive GIF can get really old really fast.
